Dr. Gawecki moved to Durham to join the practice in 2003. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, he was trained at The Medical University of Silesia and The State University of New York where he learned from leaders in treatment of kidney diseases related to hypertension, diabetes and the inventor of dialysis therapy. He has been the Medical Director of the Nocturnal Dialysis Program, a new form of dialysis designed to improve quality of life.

I was a bit nervous coming to this specialty clinic since I usually go to Duke doctors. I was able to get a more timely new patient appointment here and insurance covered it. Parking is great and the clinic staff were all very pleasant and efficient. I was shown a video explaining Kidney disease and what to expect. Dr. Gawecki was very nice and thorough. He had reviewed my records in computer and after a long time talking with me he described possible treatment plans. He answered all my questions and wants me to discuss these with my primary care doctor and cardiologist first. I was glad there was no urgency and left much relieved.
